Where I Am & Where I’ve Been

I know it has been a really long time since I’ve been on and gotten to talk to all of you, and for that I am sorry. Or really, I am not. I wish it could have been different, but the reality is what it is, and it is out of my hands and therefore I really have nothing to be sorry about. That’s a little bit what this blog post is about.

But that being said, I still feel it relevant to explain my absence. This summer was a crazy one for me. I was gone most of the summer. I started it in Oregon, road-tripped to California, back to Montana, back to Oregon, back to Montana and once again back to Oregon. It started with the passing of my grandmother, and ended with the thievery of my camera gear & laptop. Yep. THAT’s why I was MIA much of this summer and this fall. But it was also just a time of being with family, doing some research work for school, and doing some reading, as that is not a luxury I am afforded during the school year.

That leads me to the more recent reason for my absence: School. I am currently a senior in college, and yikes! Life is hectic! Aside from 17 credits of upper division English, History & Sociology classes, I am also a photographer for the school newspaper, a part of the religious leadership group on campus, running a dozen or more (no exaggeration) social media accounts, as well as being the Manager of the college radio station on campus. This, sadly, has afforded me little time for much else. Though, I have been breaking out of that shell recently. More on that later, or in a different Post coming soon.

I promise I am still shooting when I have time. Right now my focus is on my newspaper assignments and a few personal projects, as I further put my name out into the local and more national realms, seeing what opportunities I have while I am still in college, as well as looking ahead, past graduation, a reality which looms larger every single day.

I am looking to more deeply put myself out in my media, starting first with this Blog. I hope that by being honest, you will see where I am, understand, and be willing to stick by me. My first step in bringing this Blog back is, of course, to write more myself. But, because I know how busy I have become, I have some other artists, influencers, inspirations, and friends of mine who have agreed to share their lives, art and wisdom with you. Those will be popping up over the next few months, so stay tuned!

As always, if I can be of any service, don’t hesitate to contact me through any of my social media accounts or via email at john@jsanderphotography.com .
